How Much is Enough to Make a Difference When Donating?

While it often feels like one individual’s actions doesn’t have an impact on the big picture, the truth is that we all have the power to make a difference and influence change. In fact, the majority of giving (at least 71% of total annual donations) is from individuals.

Through our work at America’s Charities, we empower individuals and organizations to support causes they care about, and we do this to bring more resources to the nonprofits that are changing our world.

So how are we doing?

As a result of funds raised through employee giving campaigns managed by America’s Charities, we distributed $23 million last campaign season to nonprofits impacting a range of important cause areas:

  • Human Services = $10.7 million
  • Children & Youth = $4 million
  • Health & Research = $3.5 million
  • Education = $2.7 million
  • Advocacy & Human Rights = $1.9 million
  • Environment & Animals = $350 thousand

That $23 million was the result of 275,000+ individuals who understand that every donation – no matter the amount – adds up and makes a significant difference when we all come together to help nonprofits that are changing our world. That is the power of employee giving, and that is the power behind America’s Charities’ mission.

This holiday season, we give thanks to all the individuals who give through workplace giving, and we give thanks to those who empower America’s Charities’ important work. Please help us build on this past year’s success so that we can bring even more resources to nonprofits that are changing our world in 2018.
