Helping LGBTQ Youth Thrive in the Face of Adversity

Time Out YouthLGBTQ youth face higher rates of bullying, discrimination, and homelessness than their non LGBTQ peers. The recent attempts to withhold rights from transgender students in multiple states is indicative of the struggles that LGBTQ youth face today. Without major changes to the current trends of anti-LGBTQ sentiments, youth will continue to suffer at home and in schools. Rates of LGBTQ youth homelessness will remain at high levels, the disproportionate suicide rate will not change, and youth will continue to feel unsafe at schools due to discrimination.

Fortunately, organizations like Time Out Youth exist to support the safety, happiness, and survival of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning youth. Time Out Youth provides the space for these youth to succeed in life in the south – a region historically dangerous for LGBTQ people. This space is vital for youth to feel and become empowered, loved, and independent.

“The struggle for LGBTQ rights in North Carolina has the world watching our next steps. Our Center works daily to ensure the safety of LGBTQ youth and advocate for them. The demand for services are at the highest level in twenty-five years.  We are thankful for our donors who make it possible to offer free services for youth in need.”  Rodney Tucker, Executive Director

LGBTQ Youth Are Our Children, Our Siblings, and Our Friends.

In addition to providing a safe place for youth who may have nowhere else to go, Time Out Youth offers support and advocacy including:

  • Experienced and empathetic staff,
  • Financial assistance for LGBTQ youth struggling with money, and
  • A Host Home Program for youth kicked out of their homes due to being LGBTQ.

By donating to Time Out Youth, you support these programs and help the next generation of youth thrive in the face of adversity and create change for the future.
