Recap: Louisiana Floods

This past summer, residents of the State of Louisiana experienced historic flooding with torrential rains dropping more than twenty inches of rain between August 11 and 13.  Thankfully, several generous donors stepped up to help these residents recover by donating to the America’s Charities Disaster Recovery Fund – Louisiana Floods.

America’s Charities worked with our partner, the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, to identify where the need was greatest and where donations would have the most meaningful impact. After diving deep into the needs of Louisiana’s residents and flood survivors, CDP identified the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank as the nonprofit to receive support.

The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank itself fell victim to the flood, but they quickly managed their own damages and began helping their community, as you can hear about in this video:

For photos and updates on how the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank has recovered and returned to its mission of providing food and educational outreach to residence of Baton Rouge, you can visit their website at https://brfoodbank.org/floodupdate
