S.C. State Chooses Honors Student at Crucial Time

During the beginning of Tamekia Daniels’ senior year of high school, her grandomther (who raised her) became seriously ill and hospitalized.  So in selecting which colleges to attend, she decided to apply for schools no more than four hours away from home so she could always come back in case of an emergency.  Regardless of having a 4.0 GPA, pretty good SAT scores and being named a National Achievement Scholar, Daniels was accepted by a number of schools, but none were offering the scholarships she needed in order to afford her education.  

That is, until S.C. State.  Read how the opportunity afforded her by S.C. State, along with her attendance at the Thurgood Marshall Leadership Conference has helped Daniels both academically and personally.
