A worldwide “Thank You” day that celebrates all Make-A-Wish donors, volunteers, wish kids and families.

Make-A-Wish® grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  With the help of generous donors and more than 27,000 volunteers, they have granted more than 254,000 wishes since its inception in 1980; more than 14,200 in 2014 alone.

#GiveWishesWings and Help Grant 1,000 Wishes This April

April 29th is World Wish Day, marking the day that Chris Greicius received his wish to be a police officer, inspiring the creation of Make-A-Wish® and its global wish-granting mission. Since Chris’ wish in 1980, more than 254,000 children around the world have had their one-true-wish granted by Make-A-Wish.

This April, in celebration of World Wish Day, you can help Make-A-Wish grant 1,000 wishes by contributing money, and also by donating air miles through the Make-A-Wish #GiveWishesWings campaign.

Nearly 3 out of 4 wishes granted by Make-A-Wish involve travel, and estimates show that approximately 25 percent of people let their miles expire or at the last minute use miles for magazine subscriptions or a one-time upgrade. Donating airline miles or making a financial contribution will help Make-A-Wish fill 1,000 seats to grant 1,000 wishes for children like Aubrey who wished to go surfing in Hawaii and Colin who wished to go whale watching.  The impact of a wish can last a lifetime. According to the results of a 2011 Wish Impact Study, a combined 89 percent of doctors, nurses and health professionals surveyed say they believe a wish experience can influence wish kids’ physical health, 99 percent of parents reported that the wish experience gave their children increased feelings of happiness, and 96 percent said that the wish experience strengthened their families.

Support Make-A-Wish with a donation today, and Give Wishes Wings℠ by donating airline miles at givewisheswings.org.
