Sodexo Supports Montgomery County, MD By Taking The Community Profits Montgomery Pledge

Initiative recognizes businesses committed to giving back to the local community

GAITHERSBURG, Md, November 19, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Sodexo, Inc., a leader in delivering sustainable, integrated facilities management and foodservice operations which is headquartered in Gaithersburg, today joins with other local leaders in taking the Community Profits Montgomery pledge.

Community Profits Montgomery is an initiative that promotes companies that give back.  Launched by Bethesda Magazine and C. Fox Communications in partnership with The Community Foundation in Montgomery County,  the initiative stems  from  a  simple  idea:  to  create  a  platform  that recognizes local businesses for giving back to the  community, inspiring them to continue their good work — and encourage others to do the same.

Specifically, the initiative recognizes local businesses that pledge to give the following in the next 12 months: 2% of pre-tax earnings  (minimum of $10,000), with a substantial portion of that amount supporting Montgomery County nonprofits, or $100,000 to nonprofits serving Montgomery County.

“Montgomery County is home to so many remarkable and innovative businesses that are not only helping to shape  and  fuel  our  regional  economy,  but  that  share a  commitment  to  philanthropic  giving  right  here  at home—a powerful statement about the strength and kindness of our community,” said Carrie Fox,  co-founder of  Community  Profits  Montgomery.

Sodexo’s Community Profits Montgomery pledge aligns closely with the company’s other efforts to support the local community.  Through Sodexo Foundation, an independent charitable organization sponsoring and supporting initiatives that tackle childhood hunger in the United States, Sodexo provides financial support, food donations and significant volunteer hours with two organizations serving Montgomery County – Food Recovery Network (FRN) and Manna Food Center (Manna).

Sodexo has enjoyed a long-term relationship with Manna.  In addition to Sodexo employees
