Public Service Recognition Week on the Horizon

By Michael Hardy

The time is at hand for the recognition of government employees who work hard for the taxpayers – Public Service Recognition Week begins Sunday, May 4. Here is a rundown of what’s in store.

First, don’t miss our own effort to honor some of the most dedicated. We’re asking you to send in photographs of yourself or your colleagues on the job, along with caption information and your contact information, in case we have questions. Post them on our Facebook page or Twitter, using hashtag #PicPerfectService. We need them by May 9.

The theme for PSRW2014 is “Proud to Serve.” The Public Employees Roundtable and its members organize the annual event. Events coming up include:

  • Public Service 5K run/walk, 9 a.m. in Anacostia Park.
  • Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals Finalists Announcement (invitation only).
  • Washington Nationals Government Employee Appreciation, with discounted tickets to a game.
  • Public Service Town Hall, a panel discussion on the value of government employees.
