#GivingTuesday is not the simple fix for nonprofits that many would like it to be, but it is an incredibly powerful way to give your organization a boost in awareness and fundraising in the last quarter. We are counting down to the year's biggest day of giving and offering myriad tips for helping your group now- and through the other 364 days of the year!
What IS it, exactly?
#GivingTuesday was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. Today, it is a global movement that has engaged over 10,000 organizations worldwide.
- It's a movement that flies in the face of the commercialism that the holiday season has come to represent
- It's a way for individuals to support causes they care about
- It's a way for causes to get introduced to even more individuals who care about what they do
- It's a way for families to spend time (and money) on things that matter- and teach the little ones the importance of philanthropy
What ISN'T it?
Like any campaign or marketing tool, it isn't a quick fix for an organization that is defective. Nor is it a quick fix to play catch-up on your fundraising.
