Macy’s Believe Campaign Benefitting Make-A-Wish® Aims to Break Guinness World Record

This holiday season, Macy’s is asking America to “wish big.”

The 7th annual Macy’s Believe campaign benefitting Make-A-Wish® asks believers of all ages to write letters to Santa and send them to the North Pole via Macy’s. The letters will help Make-A-Wish grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions, and in some cases, contribute to setting a world record.

For every letter written to Santa and dropped off in one of the bright red Macy’s letterboxes located in Macy’s stores nationwide or submitted online at macys.com/believe from now until Dec. 24, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1,000,000. The ability to send letters online is a new feature for this year’s campaign and it comes with a special bonus opportunity.

When a letter to Santa is written online – before it gets sent to the North Pole – the writer will have the option to add a wish list to the letter. The writer can choose to have the first three wishes in each wish list count toward the World’s Longest Wish List to Santa, and therefore, take part in a legitimate world record attempt.

The World’s Longest Wish List to Santa is part of the multi-faceted, highly successful Believe campaign that has raised more than $8.7 million dollars for Make-A-Wish throughout the campaign’s seven year history. With the support from the Macy’s Believe campaign, Make-A-Wish has been able to grant more wishes like 4-year-old Brandon’s wish to be a firefighter. ABOUT MAKE-A-WISH
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true has positive impacts on the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family. Headquartered in Phoenix, Make-A-Wish is one of the world’s leading children’s charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and more than 25,000 volunteers, Make-A-Wish grants a wish somewhere in the country every 38 minutes. It has granted more than 254,000 wishes since its inception in 1980; more than 14,000 in 2013 alone. Visit Make-A-Wish at www.wish.org to learn more.
