Keeping Texans Healthy by Removing Barriers to Preventative Healthcare

The Caring Foundation of Texas has been committed to keeping Texans healthy by removing barriers to preventive healthcare since 1991. Many families in Texas cannot access various healthcare services because of financial restrictions, geographical obstacles, time limitations, and more.

The Care Van is the Caring Foundation’s signature program providing access to immunizations, oral care, preventive screenings, and health education for uninsured and medically underserved families at no cost through partnerships and sponsors across the state. Because of generous donations, thousands of children receive basic medical care and immunizations they need to lead healthy, happy lives. 100% of donations received by the Caring Foundation go directly to preventive health services.

  • $10.79 provides ONE immunization to a Texas child
  • $21 provides a FULL SET of immunizations.
  • $100 vaccinates FIVE Texas children in need.

Since the program’s inception, the Caring Foundation of Texas has provided more than 1.4 million immunizations and oral healthcare to more than 374,000 children. Last year alone, the Care Vans traveled almost 80,000 miles!

Preventive healthcare is crucial now more than ever.

“The COVID-19 pandemic understandably has led to parents delaying wellness visits and vaccinations for their children and some may not be financially able to get their children immunized,” said Sheena Payne, executive director of the Caring Foundation. “The goal is to eliminate the access issue as well as the financial burden of families getting their children immunized. Doing this not only improves the health of families, but also the community.”
