Feed the Children’s Summer Food & Education Program
Before you know it, school will be out for summer once again. What does that mean for kids?
For many of Oklahoma’s kids the answer is simple — they’ll be hungry. When the school year ends, so do school lunches. In Oklahoma, one in five kids doesn’t get the nutrition they need. For many, school lunches are the only real meal they may get in a day.
The good news is Feed the Children is launching a Summer Food & Education Program to bridge the food gap making sure kids don’t miss a meal.
With the help of our partners, the Summer Food & Education Program will serve approximately 500 children, five days a week for a total of 25,000 meals over the summer but we want to do more. What about those kids’ families? This summer we plan to provide meals to 2,300 Oklahoma residents for an overall goal of 115,000 meals.
And we will do it all free of charge for those who participate.
