Disney Celebrates Compassion Month & Makes $1 Million Capacity-building Grant to Make-A-Wish
People typically display their admiration for a loved one by way of roses or chocolates this month. However, around the Company, Disney employees are finding more meaningful ways to spread love and compassion to kids, communities and organizations that need it most during Compassion Month.
A cause that’s especially near and dear to Disney employees’ hearts is giving to children’s hospitals around the world. Alongside providing millions of dollars in grants and in-kind support to children’s hospitals across the country, Disney annually sends hospital care packages to nearly 500 children’s hospitals and hospices in the U.S., Canada and Latin America through a collaboration with the Child Life Council (CLC). These Disney-themed gift assortments not only promote the therapeutic and healing powers of play, but they also provide a sense of comfort and normalcy to children during their hospital stay—a significant mission that the Company shares with CLC. And for the second year in a row, Disney and Marvel are developing a new Avengers-themed custom comic that will be included in Disney’s care packages. The story asks readers the all-important question, “Who are the heroes in your life? How do they help inspire you to fulfill your mission?”
