Boy Scouts of America Joins America’s Charities

CHANTILLY, Virginia—April 25, 2011 —The National Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), the third-largest youth-serving organization in the United States with approximately four million youth and adult members, has joined America’s Charities to expand donor access to the BSA in workplace giving campaigns.

The BSA is the preeminent organization for youth leadership development with 296 local councils that provide the value-focused program for youth ages 7 to 21. America’s Charities is a national not-for-profit organization that connects charities with employers and their employees via customized, low-cost, high-tech workplace giving campaigns.

“The BSA joins a growing number of prominent national charities that have aligned with America’s Charities to provide employers with a well-managed, transparent, employee giving campaign,” said Steve Delfin, America’s Charities president and CEO. “Like many charities, the BSA understands the need to provide employers and employees options to support the charities of their choice.”

“This partnership provides the Boy Scouts of America the opportunity to participate nationally in all 227 Combined Federal Campaigns (CFC) for the first time and in more than 90 private-sector campaigns,” said Brad Farmer, the BSA’s assistant Chief Scout Executive for Development. “The Boy Scouts of America has an estimated 50 million living alumni who value their Scouting experience. Our membership in America’s Charities provides for an effective and efficient opportunity for those in the workplace to support the mission of the Boy Scouts of America who might not be able to otherwise.”

Delfin added, “We know many employees want to support the Boy Scouts of America. The workplace is the best way to reach the tens of millions of adults who might be interesting in supporting today’s Boy Scouts.”

America’s Charities, which raises more than $32 million annually, is committed to transparency and trust, and honors all employee designations so that charities get every donation pledged to them by employees through workplace payroll giving. America’s Charities also uses state-of-the-art technology to ensure charities get their donations promptly.
