Changing the Way the World Fights Cancer

Join America’s Charities, now through December, as we highlight different nonprofits and share how individuals and companies can Shape the Future of various causes through workplace giving programs.

“With cancer survivorship growing year by year, our services at LIVESTRONG are more important than ever. It is not only essential that we continue offering personalized support to the individuals fighting this dreadful disease, but it’s vital that we continue building communities and changing cancer health systems to better cater to survivors and their needs.” – Greg Lee, President

There are more than 32.5 million people around the world affected by cancer. We all know someone who has been touched by this terrible disease. There can be—and should be—life after cancer for more people.

Since 1997, LIVESTRONG has helped more than 3.5 million cancer patients, survivors and caregivers with their practical, physical and emotional needs through our free cancer support services. Their voices help shape our programs and partnerships. At LIVESTRONG, we believe that the patient comes first, and our community of brave survivors, advocates and leaders fight to transform how cancer care is delivered.

We serve individuals: Our national 1-on-1 cancer support services are offered free to cancer survivors, caregivers and loved ones. This year we are serving 40 percent more than last year, with the demand for our services growing faster than ever.

We build communities: We have launched more than 75 community-based programs around the country. Programs like LIVESTRONG at the YMCA continues to grow dramatically and is now in 520 locations that have served more than 38,000 participants.

We lead system change: Through advocacy and investment we influence legislation, regulations and standards that improve overall health systems by representing the voice of cancer patients. Our $50 million investment to create the LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes will radically improve people’s cancer experience and quality of life; revolutionize how we treat cancer; and reinvent the way cancer patients are cared for.

At LIVESTRONG we are shaping the future of cancer care. We want individuals and communities to have best-in-class programs and services that meaningfully improve their cancer experience.
