America’s Charities Selected as 2024 Board Leadership Award Winner by Center for Nonprofit Advancement

Washington, D.C. – July 17, 2024 – America’s Charities, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that mobilizes the power of giving as a leading provider of volunteering, workplace giving, employee assistance funds, matching gifts, scholarships, and other social impact solutions, today announced it was selected as a 2024 Board Leadership Award Winner by the Center for Nonprofit Advancement.

Created in 2011 to recognize outstanding leadership from nonprofit Boards of Directors in the Greater Washington area, the purpose of the Board Leadership Award is to strengthen and promote nonprofit organizations by acknowledging exemplary governance in the sector and providing a process that encourages all to learn and improve. To lift up the principles, criteria, and best practices representing exemplary governance, America’s Charities will receive a $10,000 grant, community exposure, and training opportunities from the Center.

“It is an honor to have the recognition and affirmation of the quality of our board and its practices”, said Jim Starr, President and CEO of America’s Charities.  Board Chair, Laurie De Armond, added “We have found that excellent board leadership is built on the foundation of focused board recruitment, cultivated board leaders, open communication and thoughtful engagement.”

This award distinguishes Boards like America’s Charities that go above and beyond recommended standards and fundamentals to bring new levels of leadership to their role, resulting in positive changes and notable successes for their organizations. To win the award, all candidates must go through an extensive selection process that includes nominations, interviews, and a site visit.
