Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Scholarship Fund - Point Foundation
Point Foundation (Point) is the nation's largest scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) students. Point Foundation provides it scholarship recipients with:
Scholarship Funding: Point provides a direct financial contribution toward the cost of attending higher educational institutions.
Mentorship: Point mentors build rewarding personal relationships, provide advice on professional career decisions, and serve as exemplary role models for the organization's scholars.
Leadership Development: Point works with its scholars to develop successful leaders who are transformative advocates for the LGBTQ community and beyond.
For the 2022/2023 academic year Point is funding 552 students including 70 Flagship Scholars, 90 Community College Scholars, 274 BIPOC Scholars and 118 grant recipients throughout the country. By helping these individuals obtain a solid educational foundation, Point is building a generation of leaders who are committed to both personal achievement and increasing acceptance of LGBTQ people in society.
Point Foundation scholarships are more than just a check for tuition. In addition to financial support, we also provide access to the social capital necessary to succeed in the professional world. We pair scholars with mentors in their fields of study, facilitate corporate internship opportunities, and offer extensive leadership programming.
Upon completing their tenure as scholars, Point Alumni have access to the Point community, resources, and leadership programming. Point Alumni are engaged as volunteers, serving as board members, application readers, and mentors to current Point Scholars.
