$26 per year provides a wish kid and family with a photo book to capture and preserve the memories of the wish experience. $200 a month helps fund a kid's wish to have a shopping spree at their local mall.
Make-A-Wish Foundation of America
Make-A-Wish® grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. By joining a caring community of people who improve the lives of children battling critical illnesses, you have the unique ability to transform a child and family’s life during some of their most difficult trials. That is because a wish creates an opportunity for hope and the chance to experience life beyond illness.
A 2015 study* revealed that a wish can give a child the resilience he or she needs to fight a critical illness. In fact, a wish can often improve a child’s emotional well-being and give them a better chance of recovering. Researchers have found that wishing enables a child to see the impossible as possible.
A child’s imagination is at the core of all that we accomplish together at Make-A-Wish, and we stop at nothing to deliver to every eligible child the ability to be resilient, unify a community and find hope. Many of the wishes we grant are for experiences such as getting a puppy, seeing snow for the first time, being a cowgirl or a policeman, getting a backyard tree house – there are so many possibilities. And while the average cost of a wish is more than $10,000, the transformation it provides to a child, family, entire community is life-changing.
Since 1980, Make-A-Wish and its 60 chapters across the U.S. have granted more than 315,000 wishes. Today, wish is granted every 34 minutes. But in the year ahead, a child will be diagnosed with a critical illness every 20 minutes. That means Make-A-Wish is currently able to grant only half of eligible children’s wishes. Our vision is to grant the wish of every eligible child, because every one of them deserves the strength a wish can bring, which can give them an edge in their fight against a critical illness.
You have a wealth of choices in sharing your resources. There are many worthy causes. But helping to grant a wish is immediate, tangible, and can help someone in your community right now. By selecting the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America, CFC #11375, you can share the power of a wish®! For more information about Make-A-Wish, call 800.722.WISH or visit wish.org.
It won’t just be one moment of giving back. It will transform your life.
