Chipotle DC Raises Over $15,000 in One Day Through Partnership With Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic

Chipotle staff with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic wish kid in HagerstownMake-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Each year, approximately 840 children in the Mid-Atlantic region are eligible to have their wish granted, but the hundreds of wishes Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic grants each year would go unanswered if it weren’t for local donations from generous individuals and corporate partners like Chipotle DC.

Chipotle has held successful fundraisers at individual Chipotle restaurants to benefit Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic before. Based on that past success, they decided to see if they could work together on a larger scale.

On December 15, 2016, Chipotle partnered with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic to host a fundraiser across the entire DC Metropolitan area. On that day, if guests mentioned Make-A-Wish® at the cash register of any Chipotle in the area, they donated half of the proceeds from that guests’ sale to Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic. By providing 50% of the proceeds from supporters’ sales during the fundraiser, Chipotle’s goal was to support Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic and the impactful work they are doing for children with life-threatening illnesses. By partnering with such a reputable organization, Chipotle hoped to engage their guests by supporting a cause they care about.

Chipotle’s fundraiser with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic raised more than $15,000 in a single day, which is the most successful fundraiser that Chipotle has ever held in the Washington, D.C. area market. Both Chipotle and Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic’s social media accounts saw an influx of activity in promoting this partnership and their staff at various locations were engaged and excited for the opportunity to participate in supporting such a meaningful cause.

I want to thank the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic staff for their partnership! It was an honor to be able to support the amazing things the chapter does. My team was invited to see a “live wish” the day after our fundraiser. It was inspiring! We are proud to support Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic” – Jake Park, Marketing Strategist, Chipotle DC
