Boosting Employee Engagement Through Volunteer Work

Charitable giving has long been important to both employers and employees. American companies and their workers have traditionally seen giving back to the community as a basic element of good citizenship.

However, the relationships between businesses, employees and the nonprofit providers of charitable services are changing. Employees are no longer satisfied simply giving financially to charitable causes; they want to be involved in the work itself.

And employers are realizing that charitable giving can be a good way to ramp up employee engagement, especially at a time when, according to Gallup, only 30 percent of Americans are actively engaged while at work.
