Featured Charity: Alzheimer’s and Aging Research Center
This week’s Featured Charity supports research directed towards discovering & developing methods to treat, diagnose or stop diseases such as Alzheimer’s and other age-related medical conditions.
What our organization does:
The mission of Alzheimer's and Aging Research Center is to support
research conducted worldwide, which is directed towards the discovery and development of innovative methods to treat, diagnose or stop aging-related medical conditions and diseases such as Alzheimer’s and certain cancers.
Our organization is different from other groups because the contributions we receive are used for the support of scientific research, the purchase of equipment for laboratory research and the costs associated with the presentation of this research at international scientific conferences.
Here's how you can help & how your donation will make a difference:
How you can help:
A monetary contribution however large or small would support a scientist to continue their research in Alzheimer’s Disease or other aging related conditions.
How your company can help:
At this time there is no specific way that a company can assist our organization directly but if an employee decides to make a pledge they should ask if their company will match it.

What we wish more people knew about us:
Scientific research is less tangible than the work
being done by service related not-for-profits. It can be difficult to articulate success because the process of scientific research and results is built over years and sometimes decades. However, I wish more people understood that scientific research at non-profit research institutes and universities is often the birth place of the ideas and breakthroughs that become treatments and medications that are used by doctors to treat and cure diseases.
What makes us successful?
Our organization has made the commitment to fund laboratory research and to
share our findings with scientists around the United States and the world through research collaborations, publications and presentations. This commitment requires us to spend as much money possible towards research and education rather than to fundraising or administrative needs. This has resulted in an administrative rate, which is less than 6%, and a donor can be confident that the majority of their contribution goes to the advancement of valuable scientific research and not the promotion of our organization.
