Laurie is an assurance partner and practice leader for BDO’s Nonprofit, Governmental, and Healthcare practice in the Greater Washington, DC, market. With more than 25 years of experience in all phases of client service and accounting practices, she dedicates her time and extensive experience to serving not-for-profit organizations in all subsegments, including public charities, trade associations, social services organizations, and private foundations.
Her experience in auditing and consulting includes serving a wide variety of complex, high profile, tax-exempt organizations, who apply business acumen to achieve their nonprofit missions.
Laurie was awarded one of the 2013 Women to Watch Awards by the Greater Washington Society of CPAs for her contributions to the profession. She is a member of the BDO’s Inclusion –Women National Advisory Team.
Laurie is also a National Co-Leader of the BDO Nonprofit and Education Industry Group helping to shape the strategic direction of the industry group for the firm and the local practice. She is a regular contributor to the industry group’s blog and quarterly newsletter, BDO Nonprofit Standard.
She is a regular speaker at internal and external seminars on topics including accounting practices and internal controls of nonprofit organizations, governance issues, single and compliance audits, leadership development, and diversity and inclusion. She is a guest speaker for organizations such as the AICPA, the Greater Washington Society of CPAs, and the Society for Human Resource Management. Laurie has served on numerous boards of directors and currently serves on the board of the University of Maryland Alumni Association.
