Christina Cortez joined the America’s Charities team in Spring 2015 as a part-time associate processing funds raised through corporate workplace giving campaigns. Through her demonstration of database integrity and streamlining processes expertise, she was promoted to the Charitable Funds Manager position and now is Director, where she currently manages several county and state campaigns, as well as corporate accounts. She is responsible for accurate data reporting and the allocation of donations to hundreds of charities, as well as processing of pledges for member campaigns. She also oversees the state registrations process.
Prior to joining America’s Charities, Christina worked as a Data Entry Clerk at Anacomp, where she was responsible for cataloging thousands of digital medical records for the Bureau of Medicine. She has also previously worked as an interpreting agent for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, assisting international passengers. Through this position, she has had the opportunity to meet a diverse set of clients and develop her skills in client relations. She has played key roles in supporting travel-centered nonprofits such as the Dulles Day event to raise funds for Special Olympics Virginia, Traveler’s Aid, USO, Honor Flight, and United Airlines Fantasy Flight.
Christina gained a special interest in nonprofits through her internship with NOVA Specialty Access, in which she served as an interpreter and medical technician for the underserved diabetic community. She has also been involved in the local nonprofit community over the years in events such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, WisdomSpring Walking for Water as well as provided support for The Salvation Army, MOSAIC – Virginia, Key Club International, and Help for Others/Holiday Coalition.
Christina earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Sciences from George Mason University in May 2014. Her goal is to use her data-managing skills to systematize the funds processing within the different technologies currently in use at America’s Charities. In her free time, she volunteers at McLean Bible Church.
