Workplace Giving Programs: If You Build It, Will They Come?

By Steve Delfin

Workplace Giving Programs: If you build it, will they come?

Your employees care a great deal about supporting causes that matter most to them.  That could be in the form of financial support, volunteering or board service. And more than ever, they have greater expectations that you — the employer — will support and facilitate their ability to “give.”  A traditional form of employee engagement, the workplace giving program, is seeing an insurgence of creativity and impact as more employers learn how to connect this tried and true employee engagement activity to broader social responsibility and people strategy goals and objectives.

So many employers are asking the question; if you build or revitalize your workplace giving program, will they come?  Will employees participate?  Will they give? Will they feel good about it?  We think the answer is yes, yes and yes.

Ask yourself this:

  • Are you among the many employers looking for ways to revitalize your workplace giving program to make it relevant to today’s employees?
  • Would you like to be able to more strategically connect your employee workplace giving efforts to your company’s broader philanthropic and social responsibility efforts? Would you like to have meaningful metrics to gauge the success of your employee workplace giving?
  • Do you want something that is easy-to-implement and cost-effective delivering the most information possible to employee donors while also meeting the needs of participating charities?

If your answer to any one of those questions is yes, then read on for a 3-part blog series of tips and information from America’s Charities, a leader in workplace giving and employee engagement.

We will discuss the key steps to presenting and effectively delivering the “wow factor of workplace giving programs;” provide answers, free advice, and solutions to those questions posed above; and offer insights concerning how workplace giving and various volunteer programs connect to your company’s broader social responsibility picture.
