About American Red Cross & the Central Texas Chapter's Role:

As part of the world’s largest humanitarian network with 13 million volunteers in 187 countries, the American Red Cross connects with people and neighborhoods across the nation through individual local Red Cross units, including the American Red Cross of Central Texas Chapter.

Serving residents in 10 counties, the American Red Cross ofAmerican Red Cross of Central Texas Central Texas Chapter has 3 primary areas of service:

This support enables us to continue to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need.  No other agency provides the scope of services that the Red Cross does.

We help families and communities prepare for unexpected emergencies, reunite families torn apart by war, and train people in first aid so that they can give the gift of life to others.

Education and Training:
We train more than 20,000 people of all ages every year in life saving skills like CPR, First Aid, Water Safety, psychological first aid for military families and Babysitter’s Boot camp.

Services to the Armed Forces:
American Red Cross of Central Texas has paid and volunteer staff who provide emergency-related services to members of the U.S. armed forces, veterans, their families and civilians.  On a daily basis, we work with 5-6 military families on average.  We have around the clock case-workers (one full time, 2 part time) available to help with important things like:

  • Emergency Communications
  • Counseling
  • Disaster Preparedness Education
  • Financial Aid/General Financial Services

*Again, we are mandated by Congress to provide these services to our nation’s military personnel even though we receive no regular government funding.  There is no other organization that provides emergency communication in this situation.
