Celebrate a Spirit of Giving
Over the past thirty years, America’s Charities has provided stewardship and transparency on behalf of federal, local governmental and corporate workplace donors. Employers have responded to that by trusting us to run their campaigns. On May 10, 2011, America's Charities will host the 9th Annual Employer Thank-you Luncheon at Georgetown University Hotel and Conference Center as our way of showing appreciation to these employers for selecting us as their trusted partner.
America's Charities Board of Directors, member organizations and employers will gather to recognize and honor Washington, DC area employers and individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to growing giving through efficient, effective employee-giving campaigns that benefit charities.
The keynote speaker Keith Willingham, Director of the Combined Federal Campaign at U.S. Office of Personnel Management, will discuss his view of the future of the CFC and the exciting opportunities that the 50th Anniversary Celebration offers charities that participate in the CFC.
The 2011 Award winners will be:
EMPLOYEE INVOLVEMENT: Legal & General America for the largest increase in employee participation in a workplace giving campaign.
GROWING GIVING: Credit Union National Association and National Credit Union Foundation for the highest growth in pledge dollars in the Fall 2010 workplace giving campaign.
SUPPORTING COMMUNITY: Hogan Lovells US LLP for their commitment to local charities. Over 90 percent of their pledges were given to Washington DC charities.
CAMPAIGN COORDINATOR OF THE YEAR: Judy Hubka with ExxonMobil for her superior vision and leadership in conducting a successful workplace giving campaign.
NATIONAL COMMUNITY LEADER OF THE YEAR: Jodi Osborn with Feed The Children for her work with America's Charities as a volunteer to bring our message to Combined Federal Campaign, State and Local agency and Private sector events across the United States.
THE VANGUARD AWARD: Combined Federal Campaign, Legislative Branch, Judicial Branch, Department of Defense for their long-standing leadership, support and collaboration in workplace giving.
THE MILDRED ROXBOROUGH AWARD: Bill Halamandaris for his dedication to the nonprofit and public service worlds. This award is named for one of America's Charities long-time Board of Directors, Mildred Roxborough. Mrs. Roxborough established a legacy of community involvement through her works with the NAACP, Over the years, she dedicated her life to serving the community. Mr. Halamandaris exemplifies the spirit of this award.
The Employer Thank-you Luncheon is being combined with the America’s Charities National Membership Assembly a dynamic event where executives from the leading charities supported through America’s Charities and its associated federations (Children First, Health First and Community First Greater Washington DC) will gather to discuss issues related to accountability, fund-raising and social marketing trends affecting charities.
